I bring a wide range of professional and life experience to my practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT 27909). I’ve worked with individuals and couples for more than twenty years, and trained other therapists as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. My work is informed by numerous courses in Self-Psychology, Voice-Dialogue, Dream Analysis, Jungian Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and Hypnosis.
I’m skilled at helping couples resolve problems, improve communication, and find more passion and intimacy, and have had the opportunity to see many marry and others find strength and direction during the stress of divorce. While a Senior Mediator in Los Angeles Superior Court, I did Pre-Marital Counseling and mediated Divorce, Child Custody, and Visitation Disputes. I’ve published and lectured on divorce at U.C.S.D. and Pepperdine College, and write as a Relationship Expert on SelfGrowth.com.
It’s been a privilege to mentor many women in self-esteem, self-empowerment, and autonomy, who then found their paths personally and professionally. See my monthly blog as a Women’s Expert on Goodtherapy.org.
Helping substance abusers and their families find recovery has been very rewarding. My philosophy is to encourage each person to determine his or her own abstinence and treatment objectives. I’ve worked extensively in the field of addiction and codependency in private practice and at Brookside Institute, and have both published on the subject and presented workshops and seminars before the California State Bar Association and at numerous hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. I’ve treated many in the entertainment field, attorneys, and other professionals with addiction and mental health problems. I’m familiar with 12-Step Programs.
Formerly an entertainment attorney in the corporate and private sectors for 18 years, I’m familiar with the stress of balancing work and family, career challenges and transitions, and have coached clients and executives in stress management and strategies to attain their personal and professional goals.
When working with pain and trauma, I utilize hypnosis, EFT, and breath, touch, sound, and relaxation techniques to alleviate pain and trauma.
