1. How do I know if therapy is for me?
Are you in a rut? Are you unhappy in a relationship or at work, or haven't been able to accomplish a goal? Perhaps you've been thinking about a problem for a while and have been unable to resolve it on your own.

2. How can someone I don't know help me?
It takes courage to ask for help. Talking to a trained Marriage and Family Therapist, who won't take sides or judge you, is a key benefit that friends and family can't provide.

3. How can therapy help?
Psychotherapy will expand your AWARENESS, SELF-ESTEEM and OPTIONS. You will gain ACCEPTANCE of situations you cannot change, and the ability to CHANGE what you can.

4. How do I know which therapist is right for me?
Therapy is a collaborative process, so it is important to choose a therapist with whom you feel comfortable. That's what the initial consultation is all about.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY: Sessions are generally in person, or may be by telephone, and depending upon your needs may be weekly or more. Clients with addiction and major depression usually benefit from more frequent meetings.

FAMILY AND COUPLE THERAPY: When the entire family is affected by a problem, family sessions are recommended, usually once a week. Couple therapy is designed to aid partners, whether or not married, to resolve conflict, improve communication and enhance intimacy. It is preferable to seek therapy early, before problems escalate. Left untreated, trust and good will can degenerate, requiring more time to repair.

E-THERAPY: The fee for e-mail therapy is $30 for each response. If you are interested, please make payment through PayPal and e-mail me with your concerns as indicated on the contact page. You will receive a prompt reply from me. If you do not receive a response within 72 hours, please telephone me and resend your message.

COACHING: A personal coach is an ally who can show you possibilities you never imagined. You will have a partner to accelerate the attainment of your goals, redesign your life and fulfill your dreams. Consultations are at least weekly, in person or by phone. In the first meeting, we assess your priorities and strengths and your obstacles and frustrations, with the objective of helping you to clarify and envision your goals. For example, it might be to reduce stress, lose weight, improve interpersonal or dating skills, or to achieve career or financial objectives. You may already know what you want, but still sabotage yourself with negative behaviors, inner beliefs and self-talk. Some people have hidden fears about being powerful, successful, or loved. Together, we will develop action steps to achieve your goal, strategies to overcome obstacles, and a plan to keep you consistently on track. (See Performance Coaching)

MEDIATION: As a mediator, my objective is to help people transform and find resolution in a harmonious manner that maintains mutual respect and open communication. Whether a business arrangement, a pre-nuptual financial agreement, a divorce, or child custody dispute, in negotiating change, clients' indecision or intransigent positions often reflect conflicted feelings and needs. Once clients recognize and are supported in this, practical and legal issues can be more readily addressed and amicably settled. In the long run, all participants benefit from a smooth and satisfactory resolution and/or transition to a new lifestyle, and learn effective communication and parenting skills.

As a trained attorney, I am able to understand the legal matters required to reach agreement. I work with the clients' attorneys to facilitate resolution of all issues. I am also experienced in contract negotiation, child custody evaluations, and preparing necessary reports for litigation proceedings. I worked as a Senior Mediator in the Conciliation court of the Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Department, mediating domestic violence and child custody and visitation disputes.
